Sebastian Heilmann is Professor for Government and the Political Economy of China at the University of Trier and one of Europe’s highest-profile experts on China. From 2013 to August 2018, Heilmann was the founding director and CEO of the Berlin-based, internationally reputed Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS).
