Prof. Dr. med. Jochen A. Werner

Prof. Dr. Jochen A. Werner, Chairman of the Executive Board of Universitätsmedizin Essen, has been driving the digital transformation to a smart hospital since 2015. He was previously Director of the Marburg University ENT Clinic then Medical Director of the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg GmbH. Werner sees digitization as the decisive lever for making healthcare of the future efficient affordable and more humane. This makes the smart hospital the indispensable basis and prerequisite for a holistic orientation of medicine, which in the next stage of development under the term „green hospital“ will also include factors such as sustainability, climate protection and people's natural livelihoods. Werner is a member of the Leopoldina.
