About the Speaker

Dr Julia Shaw is a psychologist at University College London, a bestselling author (The Memory Illusion, Evil: The Science Behind Humanity’s Dark Side and others), a television presenter and science journalist at BBC. She became known for her work in the field of forensic psychology, memory research and sexual sciences. In 2017 she founded the start-up Spot in Silicon Valley, which uses AI to combat discrimination in business and helps companies to better deal with inappropriate behaviour at the workplace. Furthermore, she is part of Queer Politics at Princeton University and founder of the Bisexual Research Group.

In 2019 Dr Shaw published her second international bestseller. In this context she launched the award-winning BBC podcast ‘Bad People’ in 2020, which she hosts together with comedian Sofie Hagen. In 2021 she wrote and hosted the German true crime TV series Mörderische Frauen (Murderous women) and in early 2022 published the AUDIO NOW podcast Böse with Jazzy Gudd. In the spring of 2022 her third book, Bi: The Hidden Culture, History, and Science of Bisexuality, was published.
