About the Speaker

Alexander Handschuh has worked for the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB) since 2006. Since 2015 the political scientist has headed the department of Planning, Policy, Coordination and Cooperation at DStGB. Until 2017 he managed the office of the CEO. As spokesman for the municipal umbrella organisation since 1 January 2018, his areas of responsibility have included public relations as well as basic issues of politics and digitalisation. In 2022, after nearly 15 years as a project manager, Handschuh additionally became Managing Director of the Innovators Club, a think tank of some 80 mayors, lord mayors and district chief executives dedicated to working on issues concerning the future of municipalities.
